Moomba (Melbourne Festival)

Moomba is held every Labour Day long weekend in March. This is all about celebrating Melbourne. Over 700,000 people visit the city for this festival. The city is alive with events which include the Birdman Rally (a lighthearted competition where entrants build flying craft and launch themselves off a ramp into the River to see who can fly the furthest, the proceeds going to charity), carnival rides, parades, music and features the Moomba Masters, invitational Water-ski Championship on the Yarra River. The finale being the Australia Day Fireworks.
